You Need a Fiction Fix
Join me and other "players" on Monday, March 16th at 7 p.m.
Fiction is fun. And I don’t mean just reading.
One fallacy I dearly want to dispel is the notion that the only place for fiction is at the desk of the aspiring or working author. That is, someone who expects to get paid for it.
No! Fiction-writing belongs to all of us. It’s not an accomplishment but an experience. Entering the realm of fictional storytelling opens up new worlds and reveals insights and humor we did not know existed. It is a way to access our right-brain creative natures, and the act of dabbling in fiction should not be relegated to the marketplace.
That’s why I began “T&T” writing sessions.
A play on “D&D” or Dungeons & Dragons, “T&T” or Tea Cozies & Troglodytes, is a lighter version of the original, intensive role-playing game.
To enter this world of playful story-exploring, all you have to do is create a character. And, no, you don’t need an exhaustive D&D-type character description with every quality under the sun.
All you need is a playful nature. I’ve created many silly ways to come up with names, but the easiest way to get started is to use your middle name for your character’s first name and the town you were born in for their surname. You might not want to stick with this moniker, but it can get you started.
Here’s my quirky first draft of my character, Fern Fairfax, Nature Bard.
If you want to play with your own character’s characteristics, you can try your own worksheet:
No matter what, keep it playful. You can do that by joining my online T&T group:

About Our Creative Center
“Our Creative Center” refers to both a physical place that you can claim as your own (a desk, a nook, a room, a community arts center), a place within yourself, and a time each day that you set aside for your own centering work that nourishes, fulfills, and strengthens you.
This newsletter encourages you to visit your own creative center often and to entertain the notion that by doing so, you are actively joining with a network of others engaged in free-form creativity that ripples outward.
